types of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Gi
There are a few things to consider when you purchase a Brazilian jiu Jitsu gi. Most will look towards the style of the gi prior to making a buying decision. There is certainly nothing wrong with this approach as you definitely want the best looking gi in the appropriate color for you needs. However, as the saying goes, looks are not everything and you need to apply a few little additional criteria when selecting a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu gi. Namely, you will want to determine whether or not you want a double weaved gi or a lightweight single weaved one. Is a lightweight single weave Brazilian Jiu Jiitsu gi better than a double weaved one? No, one is not better than the other. The double weaved gi is a lot more durable and is considered a better competition gi selection. A lightweight gi can also be good for competition since it weighs far less by the smaller collars allow for better gripping by an opponent. This is not a reason not to buy the lighter Brazilian Jiu Jitsu gi but it is something you need to be mindful of. The double weaved BJJ gi may be a better choice in cold weather while the lightweight BJJ Kimono might be the wiser option for the hot summer months. Some may even wish to purchase both gis so they can alternative between the two as needed. Just take the extra steps to properly care for the gis to ensure they last a long time. And with proper care, they definitely will last a long time.
