Fairtex MMA Gloves FGV17 review

I think the first thing to say about this review is that I was never ever a fan of the Fairtex MMA gloves that dominated the UK market around 5 or 6 years ago mainly because there was a very low amount of padding over the knuckle area and the wrist straps were too small.  HOWEVER!!! The brand new Fairtex FGV 17 is a totally different animal and most certainly one of the finest examples of an MMA glove on the market today. 

The problem I just mentioned with the older Fairtex “ultimate” NHB glove with regard to the knuckle area padding has been resolved on the FGV17 with a full inch of padding in just the perfect place but this glove represents a total overhaul and refinement of the Fairtex MMA glove which I honestly think is now one of if not the finest examples on the market today. 
Everything about this glove screams quality. The leather is top grade, attention to detail around the finger cuffs and wrist straps perfect.  A nice touch is the addition of a padded area over the back of the thumb which is a common place to take damage for a striker especially with body shots.  Fairtex have used their years of experience at the top of the Muay Thai game and in this version of their MMA glove got it spot on.

The fit of the glove is quite small and I would say to anyone who is on the large side of their size to go up one (I go between a big medium and a large so I picked Large) but in essence a very comfortable glove to wear.  Using the FGV17, Striking, pummelling and the open palm are all unhindered and after a little breaking in very comfortable and essentially I can’t fault it!
